Design background
It was originally designed for my wedding in 2022 under the name Theft at the Ticky Museum. We wanted a game that would entertain guests during the drinks reception when the bridal party would be busy with official photography. We hoped that by designing this game, guests would have an easy way to start conversations with people they didn’t know.
We expected our gamer friends to be keen, but were blown away by how many guests got stuck right in! Even our non-gamer friends and family were swapping clues and sharing notes throughout the reception, and seven people got the right answer at the end of the game.
How to play
The Wedding Museum commemorates the most significant points in your relationship. But disaster! An exhibit has been stolen!
Your task is to work out WHICH EXHIBIT was stolen, WHO stole it and WHERE they moved it to. The theft was discovered just after the ceremony ended.
Seven of the exhibits were removed from the display for legitimate reasons or by accident, but the eighth was stolen. Only the thief knows which exhibit they took – and they’re not telling!
We know that one of the bridal party did it, but they all have an alibi! However, one doesn’t hold up under scrutiny.
The thief went straight to the hiding place, but only one location was free at the time of the theft. You’ll need to piece together the evidence to work out which one, and what time the theft took place!
Read your clue, take notes and speak to other guests to get as much information as you can before the end of the reception.
How to run
Give each guest a clue card during part of the wedding reception, e.g. during the afternoon drinks reception, in favours for the wedding breakfast, or at the start of the evening reception. There will be multiple copies of each clue so the game still runs smoothly even if some guests decide not to participate.
It’s a good idea to brief your bridal party on how the game works in case anyone is unsure.
You don’t need to give out a prize, but you can do – think a bottle of wine from the bar or maybe a board game. You can also give out participation prizes for anyone who gets at least one of the sections correct.
